TDMA comments on claims associating titanium dioxide in candies with health risks

There has been recent attention related to the alleged health risks associated with the use of titanium dioxide (TiO2) as a food additive in candies. Unfortunately, these claims and a number of media stories about this situation are not based on any real safety concern with TiO2 and, in fact, make a number of false claims and outrageous statements. The Titanium Dioxide Manufacturers Association (TDMA) recently posted a statement concerning these false claims on their website which provides a good review of the actual facts related to TiO2 safety.
